Sigfox IoT technology

About Internet of Things technology and the global Sigfox network

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of dedicated physical objects or “things” that contain embedded technology to communicate and sense or interact with their internal states or the external environment. In recent years it has become one of the most discussed technologies across the world and has seen exponential growth within many different business sectors.

Gartner expects approximately 20 billion connected devices by 2020, most of which will consist of low-power devices with minimal bandwidth requirements. There are many companies who find IoT technology exciting, yet many still struggle to understand the ways in which the technology can benefit their company and which of the competing standards to invest in. This is where IoT Denmark can help you on your way.

Introducing Sigfox

Sigfox is the name of a dedicated global LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) IoT network and is owned by the French company of the same name. IoT Denmark is the exclusive Danish Sigfox network operator and we are responsible for expanding and maintaining the network in Denmark. We proudly hold the record of providing the greatest geographic outdoor network coverage of all Sigfox operators worldwide with 99.7% nationwide coverage.

The Sigfox network differs from other competing IoT networks by prioritising cost and coverage above payload size and frequency. This means that the Sigfox network is best suited for situations where many devices are required over a large geographic area which infrequently send messages over the network without requiring service for many years.
